In other news, Xander survived his one-year checkup with the doctor. He's losing ground on the growth curve in everything but his head size. He's under 5th percentile in height and weight, but over 90th percentile in head size. No wonder it's taking him so long to walk...it's like balancing a melon on a toothpick!

Early Birthday for Xander
Boy, was Xander happy when Nana came bearing gifts!

The Cook family had sent a trove of treasures for our young Xander, and the look of disbelief was etched on his face.

Xander quickly assembled his new toy, and let his imagination take flight.

Our son, preparing for takeoff. Engines, check. Fuel, check. Totally sweet shades, check.

What new adventures lie in store for our young adventurer?

...Tune in next week as we join him for celebrations galore, with new and old friends, and new toys to explore!

Daddy's Boy
Xander Explorer
As Mommy was saying, our little explorer has been getting more and more adventuresome lately. He is unwavering in his determination to climb over and under every obstacle available. From locking himself in darkened rooms, to climbing onto furniture, to pushing around anything that will move, he's been keeping us on our toes.
Climber and then some...
Lately, Xander has been climbing on everything. At daycare, they have this climber that has a slide and Xander has been enjoying it immensely. Just recently, he learned how to go down the slide by going down on his tummy and feet first. Xander makes mommy and daddy proud.
On a side note, he's been practicing his stealth. Mommy was watching TV and Xander decided to go down the hallway to see if he can get into a room. He quietly tested each door and found that the bathroom door opened. He quietly opened the door and entered unbeknownst to mommy until mommy heard this "click" mommy quickly got up and went to see what that click was and found that Xander had entered the dark bathroom! So, mommy opened the door and found that Xander decided that he did not want mommy to open it so he sat up and blocked it! It took mommy a few minutes to persuade Xander to move so mommy could turn on the light. He realized that it was dark and decided to move a little. When there was light, he decided that he wanted to play with the scale, not realizing that mommy is going to take him out of the bathroom immediately. *sigh* The little stinker.. . :D

Smudgified
Daddy's still not completely sure what sort of situation would warrant the use of the descriptor, "nonplussed" (generally meaning confused/bewildered), but Xander did his best impression...

Xander apparently likes the feel of camera lenses under his fingertips. He did quite a number on our digital camera before we figured out that the pictures looked pretty bad. Daddy got it all cleaned up, no worries.

Xander figured that these pictures would turn out smeary anyhow...

Xander never thought that this would see the light of day:

He wasn't happy when Daddy informed him that yes, in fact, the picture would be seen by millions online.
