T minus 2

Xander, Xander, Xander...Mommy has been worrying lately. Xander cries, Xander spits up a lot, Xander has some troubles latching properly from time to time...He is a baby, afterall. However, being the concerned, involved parents we are, we have been scouring the texts to find names for some mysterious syndrome he may have, with anything from aversions to breast feeding to GER (gastroesophageal reflux) to colic to allergies...Mommy is even concerned about overproducing breast milk.

It would be nice if all babies were exactly the same, and there were never any problems, and if babies knew exactly how and how much to eat so that there would be no gas problems, and they would put themselves on a regular schedule immediately, putting themselves to sleep...well, we know that this is a ridiculous and unrealistic dream, but it passes the time while Daddy and Mommy try to guess as what ills our poor child, and how to calm him down when he is upset. We wish we knew if the amount he spit up was reasonable, or if it was cause for concern. We wish we knew if every little rash, or air bubble or breathing problem was serious enough to warrant a call to the physician. I feel like every parent must go through these same questions, but it doesn't help to know that everyone else is as clueless as we are. Xander is really such a happy baby most of the time, and he usually doesn't have trouble sleeping, or eating, or pooping, or with just about anything else. It's just not in our range of expectations...but to be fair, we really don't know what to expect. We only can respond as best as we can to each little outburst, or each little mess he makes.

Mommy might be overproducing. Xander might have intolerance to certain foods. He might have some sort of reflux problem. We just don't know. Even if he does suffer from some disease, it is so hard to discern whether it is serious enough for treatment, or if he'll just simply outgrow it.

Daddy has enough to worry about, with the return to work looming so close at hand. We didn't take any new pictures today, so here are some that we never got around to posting before (they don't go bad over time):
